About
Our experts are launching a series of training sessions on Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning (SUMP) across different EU countries, either in-presence in the respective country or online.
The SUMP training sessions are free-of-charge for the participants and will consist of:
- An overview core module (common to all sessions), recapping the basics of SUMP methodology and focusing on common challenges in developing SUMPs in practice.
- Two further core modules focusing on the relationship of SUMPs with investment programming, other plans, TEN-T urban nodes, and the interface between local and strategic transport plans.
- A further six elective modules (selected from a long-list of 16, based on preferences expressed by potential participants and other stakeholders in the country where each training takes place), offering a deep dive into specific key SUMP-related topics in practice, exploring them in more detail and how they can be integrated into a SUMP.
Target audience
The training will enhance the expertise of urban transport planners and other relevant stakeholders, supporting cities with practical guidance on specific specialist topics relating to SUMP development, implementation, and monitoring. The trainings are supported by the European Commision Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport and Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy.
Objetives
Participants in the SUMP training sessions will gain hands-on experience in the development and implementation of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans, acquiring practical skills that can be immediately applied to their work.
They will explore international case studies and learn from both successful and challenging examples of urban mobility solutions from other EU cities.
This training will elevate their expertise in urban transport planning, providing insights into the latest advancements and new technical and policy areas related to SUMP.
Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to enhance their professional network, building valuable connections with experts, fellow professionals, and potential collaborators in a dynamic learning environment.
By taking part in these sessions, they will play a pivotal role in the implementation of SUMP in their cities or regions, contributing to the future of urban mobility planning in their territories.
