About
The Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) training took place in Lisbon, Portugal, on 28-29 January 2025 with the enthusiastic participation of 30 urban transport specialists.
The training featured nine modules—three core and six electives—covering various SUMP-related topics. These modules provided an in-depth look at the challenges and best practices in establishing SUMPs.
The training began with introductions by representatives from the Institute of Mobility and Transport and EIB Advisory JASPERS.
Attendants engaged in sessions on the basics of SUMP methodology and practice, explored the link between strategic plans and project preparation, and discussed on multi-modal plan scenario building.
The day continued with sessions on urban nodes and the interface between local and strategic transport and concluded with a focus on transport decarbonisation.
The second day covered sessions on collective passenger transport, active modes and micromobility, as well as freight and logistics. The afternoon proposed a deep dive in road safety and street design, with the training concluding with wrap-up remarks.
