Azerbaijan

In 2023, we commenced activities in Azerbaijan with an important assignment focused on enhancing traffic safety at level-crossings along the Baku – Boyuk Kesik railway corridor. This railway is part of Azerbaijan's core TEN-T network and plays a vital role in connecting Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku, and its port with the railway network of Georgia, ultimately reaching the Black Sea.

Improvements need to be made to the existing 76 level crossings and at locations where livestock and pedestrians cross without control along this rail line. These improvements are necessary to enhance the level of service, improve overall transport safety, and increase the reliability of railway operations. As an initial step towards implementing this project we are offering advisory support to gather relevant data, determine intervention priorities, and prepare the necessary Terms of Reference for conducting feasibility and preliminary design studies.

The tasks are backed by our EPIC facility, providing support for the assignment.
